We were the first motorcycle club to participate in the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. parade in Augusta, Georgia, and this has since become an annual event for the chapter.
LAW DOG
My name is Lawrence Johnson and my road name is “Law Dog”; I started the Buffalo Soldiers M/C chapter of Augusta, GA in 2001 with James A. Rolle, Jr. aka “Dragon-6. We were the first President & Vice-President / Founder & Co-Founder. I ride a 2001 Harley-Davidson carbureted Fat Boy. I now have more than 36,000 miles on my bike. I rode all but three of those miles myself.
I retired from the U.S. Army in January 2001 as a First Sergeant. I was also a Drill Sergeant and many other kinds of Sergeants before retiring. The Augusta, Georgia chapter soon flourished to 20 members which included nine members from Savannah, Georgia. We were the first motorcycle club to participate in the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. parade in Augusta, Georgia, and this has since become an annual event for the chapter.
When I moved to Hawaii in October 2003, I rode solo for a few years. But I considered myself a roving ambassador to the NABSTMC while contemplating the inauguration of a new chapter in Hawaii. Although I lived in Hawaii, I have often returned to the Southeast to fellowship with the Augusta chapter and to participate in various Frontier events.
In August 2006 after deliberation with the national council, I started the Buffalo Soldiers M/C of Hawaii chapter as the Founder and President. In Hawaii, we now have approximately 16 members and we participate in local community events for educational purposes to promote the legacy of the original 9th and 10th U.S. Army Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers who were officially constituted July 28th, 1866 in the Regular Army. We also participate in the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. parade in Honolulu, Hawaii and we were the first motorcycle club ever to do so in Hawaii; and it is now our annual event. The Hawaii chapter is The Pacific Frontier and it is the most remotely located chapter in the NABSTMC.
As of 2011, the year of my 10th Anniversary as a member of the NABSTMC, I still live in Hawaii and have a compensated vocation with the U.S. Department of Defense.
